RadioRockeTalk and the 3 Idiots
The New Year started off with a B-A-N-G on Radio RockeTalk with our programming resuming after a short break with the best the New Year had to offer: The undisputed king of Indian cinema- the guy who knows the pulse of his audience sooooo well; is easy on the eyes; never goes wrong with the choice of music; picks his scripts selectively and still makes half of India feel ‘a flush comes to to my face and my pulse begins to race… it goes boompty, boompty, boompty, boompty, boom, boom, boom…’ Yes, you are right- Aamir Khan. Well he did it again with his new Bollywood release, 3 Idiots!
Tuesday nights are our very own RJ Ajayr’s night and this time he chose to do a feature or rather a discussion on the 3 Idiots. I must stop right here to tell you that I have not watched the movie yet. Yes, it was screen in San Diego for a couple days and I COULD NOT MAKE IT. Sorry Goldspirt Films. Sorry Vijay and Shalni. Sorry Aamir. But most of all I am sorry for myself
For all you newbies- every evening and sometimes at other times between 9:30pm and till whenever it ends (usually 3 hrs or so) we have fun ‘events’ like a radio talkshow – but different. There are hosts or RJs who introduce the topics and then everyone participates in the discussion. So very unlike Radio or television where things are pretty one sided, this is a live, all inclusive show where everyone can, well, speak up. As RockeTalk is all about the mobile phones, our audiences and participants are on the mobile phones and are from all over the world. From the well connected US to the remote places in India- anyone can participte or just listen in.
The highlights of this week Tuesday night’s program:
Ragging scene
Kareena Kapoor: The only idiot? Or is it plain jealousy? LOL
Piracy movie – free movie download controvercy
Amir Khan’s excessive bathing
Hello! Is that a problem? Well thats what the guys said any way.. as for us girls… Aamir in see-thru wear… all wet.. any girls saying ‘no’ to that?
Chetan Bhagat controversy
Chotu_Tapori’s birthday

Shaam-e-Jigar: Megha Kasak
Megha Kasak from Saharanpur, relatively new to the Mushaira scene, took the whole Mehfil by a storm. With a classical singing training, her voice and poetry moved the audience as well as the other poets and moved Naheed-e-Hind, Nuzhat Nigaar, to get up and hug her!
Members of Mehfil were moved to tears listening to her. They sent their praise to her and her father, Tarun Kasak.

Live from Muradabad: 48th Annual “Shaam-e-Jigar”
At RockeTalk, we always push our limits and this time we got a chance to play up the best of the RockeTalk platform. With the help of three enthusiastic RockeTalkers- Danish Khan, Harsh Kosh and Shafeeq Khan and a whole lot of encouragement and help from the International Writers’ Association, UP, Muradabad, India, we did what we set out to do!
We broadcast an over 5 hours long live program to RockeTalkers all over the world- India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Central Africa, South Africa, U.K, U.S.A, Canada, Bangladesh, Sweden, Germany, Kuwait- I’m sure I’m missing some- straight to their mobile phones!
What was different from a regular ‘broadcast’ was the ability of the remote listeners to be part of the event and participate by listening as well as giving their comments, critique, asking questions right away.
We did not know what to expect but, in the true Mushaira tradition, people were sending in their ‘Wah! Wah!’ and also impromptu shaiyri (shairi, poetry) in praise of what the Shayars (poets) were reciting.
We’ve always had students listening in and participating in groups but this time we had people in remote villages, as many as 50 people sitting in a room, to listen and participate.

Dilkash Afridi Sahab was kind enough to sit with us and talk about Jigar Muradabadi. Here is part of the interview. We will be posting the rest of it later.

We know what you did last night ;)
The Wake-a-Thons are done for now, I was going through the fun things we all did. We got to know each other better. There was a lot of teasing, a lot of leg pulling, a lot of encouragement and a lot many friendships that came about as a result of these ’spent-the-night-with-you’ events.
Here are some fun audio clips for you to enjoy!

We made them do a lot of silly stuff through the night. Some easy, some not so easy but silly for sure

And made sure we asked them some really tricky questions :p

Love you all.
Take care… and.. through the night… we’ll be watching ya

I think I can, I think I could..
That is exactly what we at RockeTalk asked you. Why did you think your video should be aired on Channel [V] during the eXhausted show? It is your short cut to fame- get your entry in for the Wake-a-thon and yours just might be the one!
We were overwhelmed by the responses and the different sides of you all when you are were asked to talk about yourself. From the very basic- ‘I should be’ to very elaborate answers – to even when you all took it on as a political campaign- getting others to talk about you. Boy, you were all so right, India has talent- that’s for sure.
We are having fun putting the Wake-a-Thon shows together with your help of course- but please keep in mind- when you suggest the tasks for the contestants, you could be in the hot seat next. So….. please don’t seriously suggest we hang each contestant upside for the night and see who makes it
But seriously, some of the best ideas come from you and we really appreciate your time and patience, especially with me, and your enthusiasm, zeal, friendly voices every single day. I wake to your voices each day- and I love it.
If you are wondering what Wake-a-Thon is, it is a parallel show in response and in continuation of Channel V’s eXhausted, (Yes, they are trying to woo the MTV Roadies audiences) where ‘regular’ folks can join in the fun without having to travel- right from their mobile phones. The participants – compete and the others give them tasks to do through the night. Fun thing, as it is multimedia- folks got to send in pictures, videos and responses in their own voices. And the rest of us get to tease, cheer or boo (nah- we don’t really boo do we?)
As we cannot show hundreds of your entries on here, so here is a sample of what people sent in last week- it is just a few- hey I pushed it- I was told to choose only 5- at least I got 9 in. If you don’t see your entry here, it is nothing personal. We tried to get a good sample for you to view. Enjoy! Best wishes for this weeks contest. And keep those entries coming. Your entry may be featured next
Want to see your video on Channel V or here? Think you got what it takes? Come join the fun and see you you can actually make it through the night. All you need is RockeTalk on your mobile phone and fun in your hearts.
All videos were shot using mobile phones and posted directly on RockeTalk as entries for a chance to play the Wake-a-Thon on August 29-30, 2009 as a contestant.

Un-cut and Raw: Behind the scene exclusive videos
Everyone knows that there a lot more than what meets the eye and what actually makes it to the final cut even for the reality shows. There are takes and re-takes. There is so much more to the shows and things get really interesting when the contestants are eXhausted and the crew is under eXtreme pressure to make the show work and become a hit.
There are times when what goes on the actual show isn’t half as interestig as what goes on, hmmmm … well, in between shoots or when the people on the sets think the cameras are ‘off’. But…. Wherever there is A-C-T-I-O-N, chances are, there is a camera capturing it all. Tempers flaring, giantic egos, creative folks, tantrums, bloopers- you name it, we got it. And guess what? We got the exclusive scoop on it. Check it all out – only on RockeTalk. Are you tuned in? Or are you missing out?

[V] RockeTalk Wake-a-Thon
For the first time in the history of television, viewers can participte real time in a parallel ’show’ with contestants participating and competing for a chance to appear on television. The show, eXhausted, is an extreme reality show that requires its eight contestants to do without sleep for 48 hours. During these sleepless 48 hours, the participants are asked to perform some extreme tasks.
So you think, “What’s the big deal? I could do that. “
Well, RockeTalk and Channel [V] invite all RockeTalkers to participate in the Wake-a-Thon designed by the RockeTalk team to give you a taste of the real real thing- albiet on a small scale and in a much safer environment with easier tasks.
Wake-a-Thon, is a parallel ’show’ where viewers can participate in realtime and compete for a chance to grab spot on TV for their video to air. Stay awake through the night and do what you are asked to do- just like in the show.
Being a rich mobile mutimedia social entertainment platform, RockeTalk is the perfect place to enjoy the Wake-a-Thon, talk about the show, view uncut videos and what goes on behind the scenes.
