LG India and RockeTalk Partnership
July 26, 2009
LG India just released new mobile phones for the India market. These phones come pre-loaded with the RockeTalk application and have been launched in Maharashtra.
It is nice to have the application as a preload on LG but we would like to add that RockeTalk is available for free download on over 400 handsets- on both Symbian and JAVA platforms. We work on Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG and a few other phones.
Free downloads available at http://www.rocketalk.com/get_it_now.php or from your mobile phone http://m.rocketalk.com
Depending on the phone’s capabilities, not all features are supported on all the models.
“GB210 and KP265 come with the RockeTalk feature. RockeTalk is a Social Networking and Instant Messengers aggregation application. The feature lets users log onto Gtalk, Yahoo Messenger, or send a message in any combination of text, voice, pictures, audio or video to anyone, anywhere in the world. With various free online usage options like downloads, video chat messaging, unlimited group chat, unlimited text messaging etc.”
From the hiptechnology blog:
Moving beyond the 30 feet range- it gets even better… for when they can use voice give them the RockeTalk , a mobile social networking application. OK, it is the watered down version of Rocketalk. RockeTalk is known for voice and video messaging platform. Of special interest to students- it’s voice chat and video chat and also gives instant access to all the IMs- Yahoo, GTalk, MSN, AOL, ICQ. Hey, thats what everyone wants. Its right there at their fingertips. no need to download, just click on the logo! Word of caution- an unlimited data connection is recommended. Hey- but it works just fine on WiFi. So if you do happen to have access to WiFi, then even the data costs are zero!
Hiptechnology Factoid:
Betcha, even LG did not know this one- both RockeTalk and the Bluetooth technology have something common- the common link is Rajiv Kumar. Rajiv, IIT Mumbai, made significant contribution to the Wireless and Bluetooth (Widcomm) technology and, is also the visionary behind RockeTalk !

As I said on hiptechnology blog, “I am an avid user of RockeTalk. It is my saviour when I’m traveling and am away from friends and family. I can positively say that it is a great money saver especially while on international travel. Most airports have some areas where there is FREE WiFi. It saves me so much money to go WiFi- use RockeTalk for updates, messages, entertainment and send out quick voice/video/photo emails at no extra cost.
Last time I check ed ATT was charging me a whooping $19.99 per MB What the $%&* Why let the operators walk all over you? And $2.99 extra for roaming plus cost of the international calls. It is insane.”

Yep! I faced the same thing. At least this time ATT had a text message informimg about the high cost. Last time I got caught unawares. I paid close to $500 in roaming charges at Schiphol, Amstradam
Now I look for free WiFi zones all over while traveling.
It is such a rip off. Wish these things were a bit more regulated- just like the airlines code sharing
